What is a brand pattern?
It’s not just any old pattern! Oh no! It’s a brand pattern, which is an entirely different thing.
Ok, I lied. They are in-fact similar. Please continue to read if you weren’t put off by the initial lie.
I think brand patterns are one of my favourite parts of the branding process, and not just because they’re fun to do - but because they bring a real level of depth to an identity that a logo / colour palette alone doesn’t do.
Think of a cardboard box, which you’ve already put your logo on. That looks alright, but it’s a little bare. If you see the cardboard box as an opportunity for you to market your company further, you want it to look great. Here is where a brand pattern can come in.
Image 1 (below) shows the brand pattern I created for Battenburghs Gluten Free Bakery. It references the classic Battenberg cake, while the colours communicate an overall sense of fun that was so important to encompass for the brand.
Image 2 is the brand pattern for Hilltop Doggy Daycare. It’s an outline of the Minto hills (where the daycare is situated) layered many times over to create a flowing pattern.
Image 3 the brand pattern I created for a snake breeding business that sadly never came to fruition - although I still look back on the work I did for it fondly.
You can see from these examples how this branding element acts as way to further your brand and deepen the connection and impact to your customers.
