Why doing your own branding is COSTING you money, not saving it
I’m going to liken doing your own branding to highlighting your own hair (because we’ve all been there, amirite?).
You can do it yourself and it looks OKAY. Maybe some people even say it looks nice. But unless you took a college course in hair styling, its unlikely to be blowing anyone away (“blowing” away… get it? 😂)
Anyway, here are three things that are likely to happen when you DIY your own branding:
Anyway, here are three things that are likely to happen when you DIY your own branding:
❌ They’ll be a lack of consistency
If you’re simply picking things like colours and fonts out of thin air, your brand is probably looking like a bit of an unprofessional visual mish-mash.
When you invest in a designer, they’ll be sure to create a brand where these things match across the entirety of your business.
And when things match? You become recognisable. Recognisability promotes trust, and TRUST is why your potential customers end up buying from you.
❌ Not creating from a place of strategy first
Not doing the background work to develop a strong strategic foundation for your brand usually means it:
Doesn’t relate to your target audience
Doesn’t communicate your values
Isn’t truly representative of your product/service
Lacks personality
Has a distinctly “off” vibe because you’re not entirely sure who you’re speaking to
❌ No unique impression left
Whatever it is you do, guaranteed there will be someone else doing it. Investing in a strong brand ensures you leave a unique impression that sticks in the mind of your potential customers.
Choosing a generic Canva logo and merely customising it with your company name?
Instantly forgettable 😔
